Young Sydney defender Beau Busch is looking forward to the challenge of forcing his way into a regular senior team spot on the eve of the new AFM season.

Busch starred in last year's Sydney FC youth team, who went on to win the AFM Youth Cup. The defender is prepared to fight for a spot in the senior team this coming season and expects it to be a big challenge.

"I know that Fyfey and Poppa are tremendous defenders and in most cases will be expected to start every game they can." Busch explained. "But I am here to try and win myself a spot in the starting eleven this season so I'm looking to work hard and hopefully get the attention of the boss."

Sydney's first game of the season is at home to Atalanta and it is yet to be seen whether Golec or Busch will be Sydney's fourth defender.
